St. Albans Woman Sentenced To Prison For Methamphetamine Distribution

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- On Thursday, October 24, 2024, Sarah J. Ward, 41, of St. Albans, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Irene C. Berger to 24 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for her previously entered guilty plea of Aiding and Abetting the Distribution of Methamphetamine.
According to documents filed with the court and statements made in the court, Ward and her husband, Timothy A. Ward, admitted that they distributed quantities of methamphetamine and aided and abetted one another in distributing methamphetamine to a confidential informant on seven separate occasions in Kanawha County, West Virginia, from October 2, 2023, through December 6, 2023.
The Wards further admitted that they received money for several of these narcotics transactions, and for others, they received clothing that had been shoplifted at their direction.
Wards Also Sell Handgun
The transactions included the sale of a half-ounce of methamphetamine to a confidential informant at a St. Albans bar on October 2, 2023. The Wards also sold a pistol with a removed serial number to a confidential informant, which Mr. Ward referred to as a “throwaway” firearm during the transaction.
According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson, on June 6, 2024, Timothy A. Ward, 42, was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for his previously guilty plea to the charge of Aiding and Abetting the Distribution of Methamphetamine.
U.S. Attorney Thompson commended the St. Albans Police Department and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations for the arrests, convictions, and subsequent federal prison sentences of the Wards.
