CAMDEN, NJ.- On Thursday, October 24, 2024, Anthony Barbarino, 38, of Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Renee Marie Bumb to 33 months in federal prison on his previously entered guilty plea to Possession of Child Pornography.

During Thursday’s hearing, in addition to the federal prison term, Judge Bumb also sentenced Barbarino to ten years of supervised release upon completion of his imprisonment and ordered him to pay $13,000 in restitution to his victims.

According To U.S. Attorney Sellinger

According to U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger, the sentence and guilty plea stem from an investigation that uncovered that from April 12, 2022, through August 3, 2022, when Barbarino knowingly possessed 93 digital images and 108 digital video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children on three electronic devices. Including at least one digital image of a prepubescent child under the age of twelve and another image depicting sadistic and masochistic conduct or other depictions of sexual violence of children.

Barbarino was arrested and charged by federal criminal complaint on August 3, 2022, and later indicted by a Federal Grand Jury. Prior to his arrest, Barbarino was employed as a nurse.

U.S. Attorney Sellinger credited the investigated efforts of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations for Barbarino’s arrest, conviction, and Thursday’s federal prison sentence.
