Police Looking For Driver Who Crashed Car & Left Passenger Dead Inside

WOODBRIDGE, NJ- Police are continuing the search for the driver who crashed his vehicle Friday morning in Woodbridge Township and fled the scene, leaving his 47-year-old passenger dead inside the vehicle.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on Friday, October 25, 2024, shortly after 9:00 a.m., members of the Woodbridge Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a single motor vehicle crash in the area of Route 9 and Green Street in the Township.
Driver Flees The Scene Leaving Passenger Dead In Car
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a 2017 Kia Sportage, which was occupied by only a front-seat passenger; Mario Ortiz Bonilla, 47, of North Plainfield, New Jersey, had succumbed from injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The initial investigation, led by Detective Jeffery Horvath of the Woodbridge Police Department and Detective Matthew Colonna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, determined that after the crash, the driver of the Kia Sportage fled the scene.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as authorities continue the search for the driver.
