BECKLEY, W.VA.- On Friday, October 25, 2024, Carl Thomas Mullins, also known as TJ Mullins, 24, of Isaban, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Frank W. Volk to 24 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his conviction of the charge of Theft of Firearms from a Licensed Firearms Dealer.
According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson and documents filed with the court, on September 10, 2021, Mullins broke into a Wyoming County firearms business and stole a Colt M4 5.56 Carbine Rifle, a Black Aces Pro Series M 12-Gauge Shotgun, and a Silver Eagle 12-gauge Shotgun.
Admitted To Trading Gus For Drugs
Mullins later sought to sell the guns or trade them for illicit narcotics. The rifle was later recovered, but authorities have been unable to locate the two shotguns.
U.S. Attorney Thompson commended the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives for Mullins’ arrest, conviction, and Friday’s federal prison sentence of Mullins.
