CONCORD, NH.- On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Joseph Crawford, 33, of Northfield, New Hampshire, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Landya McCafferty to one count of Attempted Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
After entering his guilty plea, Judge McCafferty accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing on a date to be determined by the court. When sentenced, Crawford faces up to 20 years in federal prison, a fine of up to $1,000,000, and up to three years of supervised release. The actual term of incarceration will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge based on the seriousness of the offense and Crawford’s criminal history, if any.
According to U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young and documents filed with the court, on July 5, 2023, and July 19, 2023, United States Postal Inspection Service flagged and put aside suspicious packages addressed to Crawford at an address in Northfield, New Hampshire, sent from California.
Postal Inspectors Find Meth
After flagging the packages, United States Postal Service’s inspectors obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant on the two packages. The subsequent search of the packages revealed a total of just around two pounds of methamphetamine.
U.S. Attorney Young commended the investigative efforts of the agents of the United States Postal Inspection Service for uncovering the concealed methamphetamine and the successful prosecution of Crawford.
