Duncansville Man Pleads Guilty To Distribution Of Methamphetamine

Friday, November 1, 2024, 8:00 P.M. ET. 1 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

JOHNSTOWN, PA.- On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Douglas Hillegass, 62, of Duncansville, Pennsylvania, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Stephanie L. Haines to a charge in relation to drug trafficking, specifically one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine.

The charge and guilty plea are the result of a six-month court-authorized wiretap investigation into drug trafficking throughout Blair, Cambria, Centre, and Clearfield counties in the Western District of Pennsylvania.

According to U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan, the court was advised that Hillegass was a major methamphetamine distributor who obtained around six ounces of methamphetamine from Jason Lynn, a large-scale narcotics distributor. Hillegass then repackaged, redistributed and sold the illicit narcotics to other individuals.

During the plea hearing, Judge Haines accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for February 26, 2025, at which time Hillegass faces a minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison, a fine of up to $5 million, or both. The actual term of the sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge based on the seriousness of the offense and Hillegass’ prior criminal history, if any.
