Barbour County Man Sentenced To Prison For Methamphetamine Crime

ELKINS, W.VA.- On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, James Marklin Mayle, 67, of Philippi, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Thomas S. Kleeh to 130 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine.

     According to documents filed with the court, members of the Mountain Region Drug Task Force conducted a motor vehicle stop on Mayle’s vehicle. During the stop, investigators found nearly two pounds of methamphetamine inside his vehicle.

Transporting Meth From Ohio To West Virginia

     Mayle, also known as “Mark Mayle,” was in the process of transporting methamphetamine from Ohio into the Northern District of West Virginia to be repackaged and redistributed throughout the Barbour County area.

     The Mountain Region Drug Task Force investigated the case and was assisted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner prosecuted the case.
