PLEASANTVILLE, NJ.- On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, Christopher Jones, 43, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and entered an open guilty plea before Superior Court Judge Pamela D’Arcy to second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun.
Following entering his plea, Judge D’Arcy scheduled sentencing for March 12, 2025, at which time Jones faces up to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, with a five-year mandatory period of parole ineligibility.
The charge and guilty plea stem from an incident that began on April 3, 2022, when members of the Pleasantville Police Department responded to the Pleasant Acres Apartment Complex after receiving multiple calls reporting a man with a gun in a Black Chevrolet Impala, with fully tinted windows.
As Police Officers were arriving at the complex, they spotted a car matching the description and conducted a motor vehicle stop on the Impala. Upon stopping the vehicle, Police Officers found Jones inside the car as a passenger and discovered a loaded revolver inside a body bag he was wearing across his waist. Police Officers learned that Jones was legally banned from owning or possessing a firearm.
