Akron Man Pleads Guilty To West Virginia Federal Drug Crime

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- On Monday, November 4, 2024, Terric Zaire Williams, 25, of Akron, Ohio, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Thomas E. Johnston to Possession with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or More of Methamphetamine.
After entering his guilty plea today, Judge Johnston accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for February 27, 2025, at which time Williams faces a mandatory five years and up to 40 years in federal prison, at least four years of supervised release, and a $5 million fine.
According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson, on March 29, 2023, law enforcement investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant at a Charleston, West Virginia apartment where Williams was staying. During the search, investigators discovered and seized nearly a pound of methamphetamine from a dining room trash can and a living room closet.
During today’s allocution, Williams admitted to possessing the methamphetamine and that he intended to distribute the drugs throughout the City of Charleston.
U.S. Attorney Will Thompson commended the Charleston Police Department for the investigation, arrest, and today’s conviction of Williams.
