PITTSBURGH, PA.- On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Jamiel Green, 27, of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Cathy Bissoon to one count of Escape.
After entering his guilty plea on Wednesday, Judge Bissoon accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for March 6, 2024, at which time Green faces up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000, or both. The actual term of imprisonment will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge based on the seriousness of the offense and Green’s prior criminal history.
According to U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan and documents filed with the court, Green was serving the final stage of his federal prison sentence for a federal firearms violation at a residential reentry center specifically designed to help inmates transition back into society.
Green was given permission to leave the facility on a temporary furlough and was due to return on November 2, 2023. Green did not return as directed in accordance with his furlough and absconded and remained at large until he was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service several months later.
