PITTSBURGH, PA.- On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Lafon Ellis, 30, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Cathy Bissoon to two counts of Possession of Contraband in Prison.

During Wednesday’s plea hearing, Judge Bissoon accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for February 20, 2025, at which time Ellis faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $500,000, or both. The actual term of imprisonment will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge based on the seriousness of the offenses and Eillis’ past criminal history.

According to U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan, during the plea hearing, Ellis admitted that as a federal inmate lodged in the Allegheny County Jail, he did possess multiple controlled substances on May 3, 2023, and once again on December 10, 2023.
