Paterson Tow Truck Driver Killed While Attempting To Tow Car Of Route 19

PATERSON, NJ.- A 64-year-old Paterson, New Jersey, man tragically lost his life Sunday morning after he was struck and killed by a motor vehicle while he was attempting to tow a disabled vehicle off Route 19 South in Paterson, New Jersey.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, On Sunday, November 3, 2024, shortly before 11:00 a.m., members of the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the area of mile marker 2-3 State Route 19 South after receiving multiple reports of a serious motor vehicle crash, resulting in the death of a man, identified as Manuel Perez, 64, of Paterson New Jersey.
Police Officers Find Man Struck By Car
Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that Mr. Perez was struck by a Toyota sedan while he was attempting to hook up another vehicle to a tow truck. After striking Mr. Perez, the Toyota struck the tow truck, flipping over and landing on its roof. Mr. Perez was pronounced deceased by Paterson Fire and Emergency Medical Services, and the driver of the Toyota was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation remains active and ongoing and is being conducted by Detectives of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Investigations Unit and the Paterson Police Department.
