Ventnor Man Sentenced To State Prison For 2021 Absecon Park Stabbing

ABSECON, NJ.- Today, November 7, 2024, William Clanton, 24, of Ventnor, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and was sentenced by a Superior Court Judge to three years in New Jersey State Prison for the charge of third-degree Aggravated Assault.

     The sentence stems from an incident that began on January 1, 2021, when members of the Absecon Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at the Field of Dreams Park.

Police Officers Find Stabbing Victim

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a victim suffering from four stab wounds to the victim’s head, throat, arm, and abdomen. Police Officers immediately performed life-saving measures, and the victim was transported to the hospital, where the victim underwent emergency surgery and survived.

     Police were able to locate Clanton inside the park and quickly arrested him. During his arrest, Police Officers found two knives in his possession. During questioning, Clanton admitted to stabbing the victim during a fight.
