Demarest Man Charged With Sexual Assaulting Teen

TENAFLY, NJ.- Following an investigation into allegations of the sexual assault of a minor, on Monday, an 18-year-old Demarest, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a child under the age of eighteen that occurred in Tenafly, New Jersey.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, the Tenafly Police Department contacted members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding a report the department received about the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile.

     A joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in conjunction with the Tenafly Police Department determined that Justin M. Urgiles, 18, of Demarest, New Jersey, sexually assaulted a juvenile under the age of eighteen in Tenafly, New Jersey.

     Accordingly, on Monday, November 4, 2024, Urgiles was taken into custody by Detectives in Demarest, New Jersey, and formally charged with second-degree Sexual Assault; third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and a Disorderly Persons Offense of Assault.

     Urgiles was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
