ALBANY, NY.- On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Omar Wynn, 31, of Schenectady, New York, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and pleaded guilty before a U.S. District Court Judge to Distribution of a Controlled Substance.

According to U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman, on Wednesday, during his plea allocution, Wynn admitted in District Court that in 2023, he sold 1,500 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl and 8.5 grams of crack cocaine in Schenectady, New York. The fentanyl pills were stamped with “M30” to deceive purchasers that they were oxycodone pills. Wynn further agreed to forfeit $3,000 in cash proceeds from distributing the substances.

Sentencing has been scheduled for March 11, 2025, at which time Wynn faces at least five years and up to 40 years in federal prison and at least four and up to life of supervised release, and a $5 million fine, or both.

A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the actual term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Wynn’s past criminal history, if any.
