Southeast D.C. Man Arrested For August 2023, Northwest Fatal Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Thursday, November 7, 2024, a 25-year-old Southeast, D.C. man was formally charged in connection with the August 4, 2024, Northwest, D.C., early morning shooting death of a 33-year-old Southeast, D.C. man.
On Thursday, D.C. Metropolitan Police Detectives charged Jordan Thurman, 25, of Southeast, D.C., with first-degree Murder While Armed. Thurman was served with the warrant complaint in custody where he is being held on unrelated charges.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, the charges stem from an incident that began on Friday, August 4, 2024, when shortly before 1:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District responded to a report of gunfire on the 1900 Block of 13th Street in Northwest, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officer found a man, later identified as Denzel Greenwood, 33, of Southeast, D.C., having succumbed to gunshot wounds. Mr. Greenwood was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During an extensive investigation, Detectives were able to identify Thurman as the shooter and the individual responsible for the murder of Mr. Greenwood.
