Ohio County Man Sentenced To Federal Prison For Selling Crack Cocaine

WHEELING, W.VA.- On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Geon Thamar Newby, Jr., 37, of Wheeling, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge John Preston Bailey to 63 months in federal prison to be followed by three years of supervised release for his conviction of Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
   According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Carly Nogay and documents filed with the District Court, Newby, also known as “G” or “Gee,” sold and distributed crack cocaine throughout Ohio County, West Virginia. Newby was responsible for distributing at least 840 grams of crack cocaine throughout Wheeling, West Virginia.
In handing down the sentence, Judge Bailey noted Newby’s prior narcotics convictions in the State of Ohio.
