Three Shot Dead Within 24 Hours In Separate Shootings In Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- The Nation’s Capitol turns deadly after gunfire erupted across Washington, D.C., leaving two men and a woman dead after they were gunned down in three separate shootings in less than twenty-four hours.
First Fatal Shooting
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at around 3:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to reports of a shooting on the 700 Block of Atlantic Street in Southeast, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Olivia Graves, 24, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Ms. Graves was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital, where, despite life-saving measures, she succumbed to her injury and was pronounced deceased. Detectives have charged Maurice Jackson, 62, of Southeast, D.C., with second-degree Murder for the shooting death of Ms. Graves.
Second Fatal Shooting
Again, on Thursday, November 7, 2024, just shortly before 11:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to gunfire on the 600 Block of Edgewood Street in Northeast, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Tyrone Burch, 30, of Northeast, D.C., unresponsive from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Burch was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Services.
Third Fatal Shooting
The following day, Friday, November 8, 2024, just minutes after 12:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District, while on patrol, responded to the sounds of gunfire on the 1300 Block of Southern Avenue in Southeast, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers were unable to locate a victim. While canvassing the area, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Fred Morgan, 61, of Southeast, D.C., having sustained a gunshot wound. Mr. Morgan was immediately transported to a nearby hospital by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, where, despite life-saving measures by doctors, Mr. Morgan succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
   The investigations remain active and ongoing as Detectives continue to search for suspects and the motives for the shootings.
