Bluefield Man Sentenced To Federal Prison On Drug Trafficking Crime

BLUEFIELD, W.VA.- On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Matthew Alexander Wilson, 29, of Bluefield, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge David A. Faber to 168 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Fentanyl.
According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson and charging documents filed with the court, on August 16, 2023, Wilson and Denise R. Allen were taken into custody at a gun store in Princeton, West Virginia. Following the two being arrested, Wilson and Allen consented to a search by Police Officers of a truck they had rented using stolen identification.
Police Officers Uncover Meth And Fentanyl
During the search, Police Officers uncovered just around a pound of methamphetamine, 45 grams of fentanyl, and two Glock 9mm semiautomatic handguns. Wilson and Allen admitted that they possessed the illicit narcotics and intended to sell and distribute the drugs. Wilson, a prior convicted felon, admitted that he instructed Allen to purchase a firearm with stolen identification for him.
Denise Allen, 30, of Bluefield, West Virginia, was sentenced on June 10, 2024, to five years in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Fentanyl.
U.S. Attorney Thompson commended the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Southern Regional Task Force for Wilson’s successful conviction and federal prison sentence.
