East Hartford Man Sentenced For Federal Gun & Drug Crimes

NEW HAVEN, CT.- U.S. Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery reported, that on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, David Quintana, 36, of East Hartford, Connecticut, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer to 60 months in federal prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty pleas fentanyl distribution and firearms offenses.
Previously, on December 27, 2023, Quintana pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute 40 Grams or More of Fentanyl; Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute a Quantity of Cocaine; and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Convicted Felon.

According to documents filed and statements made in court, in March and April 2023, undercover investigators made multiple controlled buys of fentanyl from David Quintana and his brother, Edgar Quintana. David and Edgar Quintana were arrested on April 17, 2023. On that date, investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant on David’s residence and uncovered two .40 caliber handguns that had been reported stolen, one 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number, and 250 rounds of ammunition.
A court-authorized search of Edgar Quintana’s residence led investigators to find distribution amounts of fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine.
Federal law prohibits a person convicted of a felony from possessing firearms and ammunition. When the firearms were located at David Quintana’s East Hartford residence, he knew he was a prohibited person due to his prior criminal convictions for narcotics offenses.
Following Wednesday’s sentencing, Judge Meyer continued David Quintana’s bond and ordered him to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons on January 3, 2025. Edgar Quintana has pleaded guilty to the charges against him and is awaiting sentencing.
