BOSTON, MA.- On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Ruben Dario Guerrero, 44, a citizen of the Dominican Republic residing in Lawrence, Massachusetts, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Court Judge F. Dennis Saylor, IV, to one count of Making a False Statement on a Passport Application; and one count of Aggravated Identity Theft.

Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Saylor accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for March 5, 2025, at which time Guerrero faces up to 120 months in federal prison, up to three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy and documents filed with the court, on August 25, 2023, Guerrero submitted an application for a U.S. Passport at a Lawrence, Massachusetts post office. Guerrero used the name, date of birth, and social security number of a United States citizen who died in Puerto Rico in 1997 and signed the application under penalty of perjury that he was a United States citizen.

When, in fact, identity documents from the Dominican Republic revealed that Guerrero was a citizen of the Dominican Republic.
