Luzerne County Man Indicted For Drug Trafficking

SCRANTON, PA.- On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, a Federal Grand Jury for the Middle District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment against Michael Verbitsky, 37, of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on a Federal Drug Trakkicking Offense.

     According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam and charging information unsealed in the indictment, it is alleged that on April 4, 2024, in Luzerne County. Pennsylvania, Verbitsky distributed 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

     If convicted at trial, Verbitsky faces a maximum of 40 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $5 million.

     The drug trafficking charge is the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Kingston Police Department, the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, the Pittston Police Department, and the Luzerne County Drug Task Force.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
