CHARLESTON, W.VA.- On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Jason Todd Painter, 40, of Clendenin, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge David A. Faber to 60 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his conviction of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine.

According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson and documents filed with the district court, beginning on March 15, 2023, and lasting through June 24, 2023, Painter received eleven packages containing quantities of methamphetamine sent by a co-conspirator from New York to Painter’s Clendenin, West Virginia residence.

Painter kept some of the methamphetamine for himself and held the balance for co-conspirators to pick up. The co-conspirators at times directed Painter to deliver methamphetamine to other individuals throughout the Kanawha County, West Virginia area.

On July 15, 2023, the co-conspirator shipped a package through the U.S. Postal Service from New York to Painter’s residence. U.S. Postal Service inspectors intercepted the package and found it contained around 4.2 kilograms of methamphetamine. Following the discovery of the methamphetamine, Painter was taken into custody and charged.
