Ohio Man Sentenced To Prison For Running Drugs For Mexican Cartel

AKRON, OH.- A 39-year-old Republic, Ohio, man learned on Wednesday that he will be a senior citizen and well into his golden years when he is finally released from federal after being sentenced in connection with transporting deadly fentanyl into the Midwest for a Mexican Drug Cartel.
On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Seth Hoover, 39, of Republic, Ohio, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge John R. Adams to 420 months in federal prison after being found guilty at trial of Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl; Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime; and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, being a Convicted Felon.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office and documents filed with the court, an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, while on routine patrol, observed Hoover commit a traffic violation on U.S. Route 250 in Ashland County, Ohio, and conducted a traffic stop on Hoover. During the traffic stop, Hoover presented false identification.
After presenting false identification, additional troopers arrived at the scene and placed Hoover in investigative detention. During a search of Hoover’s vehicle, troopers uncovered 1.8 kilograms of fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, and items consistent with drug trafficking. The ensuing investigation determined that the fentanyl had an estimated street value of $120,000.
