Indiana Man Pleads Guilty To Illicit Drug Crimes

JOHNSTOWN, PA.- On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Barry Baker, 45, of Indiana, Pennsylvania, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty before Senior U.S. District Court Judge Kim R. Gibson to count one of a Superseding Indictment on charges of violating federal narcotics laws.
During Wednesday’s hearing, Baker admitted that beginning in December 2021 and lasting through December 2023 in the Western District of Pennsylvania, he knowingly conspired with others to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute 500 Grams or More of Cocaine; Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute 40 Grams or More of Fentanyl; and Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute an unknown quantity of Crack Cocaine.
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Gibson accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for March 11, 2025, at which time Baker faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison, a fine of up to $5 million, or both. The actual term of imprisonment will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge based on the seriousness of the offenses and Baker’s prior criminal history, if any.
U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Laurel Highlands Resident Agency, and Homeland Security Investigations for the arrest and successful prosecution of Baker.
