BURLINGTON, VT.- Yesterday, a 38-year-old was imprisoned for dealing illicit narcotics from a Vermont residence of an individual she took advantage of due to their long-term illness.

On Monday, November 18, 2024, Hassanah Delia, 38, of Burlington City, New Jersey, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Christina Reiss to 30 months in federal prison, to be followed by six years of supervised release for her previously entered guilty plea to Conspiracy to Distribute Crack Cocaine and Fentanyl within the District of Vermont.

According to U.S. Attorney Nikolas P. Kerest, beginning in late July and early August 2023, Delia and her co-conspirators occupied the Morrisville, Vermont, residence of a person who suffers from a severe degenerative illness.

Delia occupied the person’s home for around a week and a half. During that time, Delia and her co-conspirators worked together to sell crack cocaine and fentanyl from the house. Inside the home, Delia and her co-conspirators cooked and prepared cocaine powder into crack cocaine and packaged the drugs, including fentanyl, for street-level sales.

During the week and a half, drug customers arrived at the residence to purchase crack cocaine and fentanyl from Delia and others in exchange for money.
