2 Charged & Another Remains On The Run In Monday Southeast DC Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- Metropolitan Police Detectives have taken two into custody and charged them in connection with a Monday morning shooting in Southeast, D.C., leaving a man hospitalized.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, November 18, 2024, at around 8:15 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to gunfire on the 500 Block of Valley Avenue in Southeast, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man having sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The man was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Services to a nearby hospital for treatment.
While canvassing the area, Police Officers stopped and detained two suspects matching the description of suspects being involved in the shooting. Officers also recovered two firearms at the scene. Following the initial investigation, Darion Muhammad, 20, and a 17-year-old juvenile male, both from Southeast D.C., were formally charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
Police are continuing the search for a third suspect who fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was captured on a nearby surveillance camera.
