CHARLESTON, W.VA.- On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Casey Thomas Judd, 36, of Charleston, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before Senior U.S. District Court Judge John T. Copenhaver to Failing to Provide Information Regarding Interstate Travel as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

Following entering his guilty plea on Monday, Judge Copenhaver accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for February 19, 2025; at that time, Judd faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 10 years in federal prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.

According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson, around June 14, 2024, Judd moved from Charleston, West Virginia to Springfield, Ohio. Judd failed to update his sexual offender profile on the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act on the federal database after he arrived in Springfield, Ohio.

Judd is required by federal law to register as a sex offender and comply with federal requirements due to his prior felony conviction for third-degree sexual assault in Kanawha County Circuit Court in August 2015.
