Kanawha County Man Sentenced For Distribution Of Fentanyl

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- Yesterday, a 23-year-old Kanawha County man learned he will be spending at least three years in prison for selling deadly fentanyl to informants in July 2023 in the Southern District of West Virginia.
On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Jacarre Cortez Woodruff, 23, of Dunbar, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge John T. Copenhaver, Jr., to 41 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to Distribution of Fentanyl.
According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson, on July 25, 2023, Woodruff sold around 28 grams of a substance containing fentanyl and heroin to two confidential informants during a controlled buy under the observation of law enforcement officers from his Dunbar, West Virginia residence.
   U.S. Attorney Thompson commended the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives agents, which led to Woodruff’s successful prosecution.
