Harrison County Man Sentenced For Methamphetamine Crime

CLARKSBURG, W.VA.- A 47-year-old Harrison County man with a long criminal history will be spending close to the next two decades in federal prison after leading Police Officers on a high-speed pursuit, and only after finally being apprehended, Police Officers found out why he fled when they found him in possession of meth.
On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Jack F. Gibbins, III, 47, of Clarksburg, West Virginia, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Thomas S. Kleeh to 210 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Flower, who prosecuted the case, on July 13, 2021, Police Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Gibbins’s motorcycle. Following a high-speed pursuit throughout Harrison County, Gibbins was finally apprehended. During Gibbins’s arrest, Police Officers found methamphetamine in his pocket.
In handing down the sentence on Wednesday, Judge Kleeh noted Gibbins’s prior criminal history, including felony convictions for domestic battery, escape from custody, violation of a protective order, and drug trafficking offenses.
The Greater Harrison County Drug Task Force, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bridgeport Police Department investigated the case.
