Oakland Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Thursday’s Stabbing

OAKLAND, NJ.- Following an investigation into a stabbing incident, a 34-year-old Oakland, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the stabbing of a 53-year-old man that occurred Thursday afternoon inside Cafe L’Amore in Oakland, New Jersey.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, shortly before 3:00 p.m., members of the Oakland Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a stabbing inside a restaurant located at 455 Ramapo Valley Road in Oakland.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 53-year-old man suffering from apparent stab wounds. The man was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The man’s condition is unknown at this time.
During the initial investigation, Responding Officers learned that the assailant, identified as Jose Higinio Ramos Solis, 34, of Oakland, New Jersey, entered the establishment and fled the scene after stabbing the man. Ramos Solis was quickly apprehended a short distance from the restaurant.
An ensuing investigation by Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Oakland Police Department confirmed that Ramos Solis was the individual who approached and stabbed the man inside the restaurant.
Formal Charges Filed Against Ramos Solis
Accordingly, on Thursday, Ramos Solis was formally charged with one count of first-degree Murder; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Ramos Solis was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
It is unknown if the two men were known to each other, and Bergen County authorities have not released a motive for the stabbing.
