HAMMONTON, NJ.- Following an investigation, on Monday, November 25, 2024, the Town of Hammonton Police Department’s Detective Sergeant Robert Zbikowski, 45, of Hammonton, New Jersey, was taken into custody and charged.

Zbikowski has been formally charged with second-degree Official Misconduct; second-degree Pattern of a Crime of Official Misconduct; third-degree Theft by Unlawful Taking; fourth-degree Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence; and fourth-degree Obstruction of Administration of Law.

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, this year, the Hammonton Police Department contacted the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office to advise Detectives that Zbikowski had failed his required drug screening test, testing positive for methamphetamine.

During an ensuing investigation, Zbikowski was found to have tampered with and had taken narcotics items that were being stored as evidence at the Hammonton Police Department. The illicit narcotics that were tampered with and taken included methamphetamine and oxycodone. These items were taken from the evidence room of the Police Department.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office did not report if Zbikowski was remanded into custody or released on a complaint summons pending future court proceedings.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
