ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- On Monday, a 43-year-old Atlantic City man found out that he will be a senior citizen when he is finally released from State Prison for the horrific rape of his then-girlfriend’s 5-year-old daughter.
According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on Monday, December 2, 2024, Oscar Oberlino Gomez Miralda, 43, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and was sentenced by a Superior Court Judge to 25 years in New Jersey State Prison for the first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault of a 5-year-old girl.
Gomez Miralda must serve the entire 25 years of his imprisonment before becoming eligible for parole pursuant to the Jessica Lunsford Act. Additionally, Gomez Miralda was sentenced to a seven-year prison term for the charge of Endangering the Welfare of A Child by sexual contact, which will run concurrently to the 25 years. When released from prison, Gomez Miralda will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and will be subject to parole supervision for life.
Mother Uncovers The Sexual Assault
The sentence is the result of a conviction when, on June 26, 2024, an Atlantic County jury found that Gomez Miralda committed sexual penetration upon the five-year-old child at the child’s home in December 2022. The sexual assault was discovered by the child’s mother, who utilized a camera phone to record her daughter’s bedroom while she was at work.
At the time of the sexual assault, Gomez Miralda was involved in a relationship with the child’s mother and lived with them.
Atlantic County Prosecutor Reynolds credited members of the Atlantic County Special Victims Unit and Assistant Prosecutor Tiffany De Grandmaison with investigating, arresting, and convicting Gomez Miralda.
