Hazelton Inmate Pleads Guilty & Sentenced For Staabing

CLARKSBURG, W.VA.- On Tuesday, December 4, 2024, Sean Robin Howard, 22, an inmate housed in the Federal Correctional Institution Hazelton in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia, appeared in U.S.District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and, following entering his guilty plea was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Thomas S. Kleeh to 36 months in federal prison for stabbing another inmate.
Before being sentenced, Howard pleaded guilty to Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. In handing down the sentence on Tuesday, Judge Kleeh ordered that Howard serve the 36-month term consecutive to his current federal prison term.
According to U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlefeld, II and the charging documents filed with the court, Howard was involved in a verbal altercation with another federal inmate inside a housing unit. As the argument escalated, Howard pulled out a “shank,” a homemade weapon, and stabbed the other inmate in the neck, causing a serious bodily injury.
The inmate was transported to a nearby hospital and was treated for the injury and has since recovered.
