Metropolitan Police Have Arrested Man For March 2024 Shooting Death

WASHINGTON, DC.- Today, members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force have apprehended a man wanted in connection with the March 8, 2024, Shooting Death of a Southeast, D.C. man.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, Craig McKinney, 47, of Southeast, D.C., was formally charged with one count of second-degree Murder While Armed and Weapon-related offenses.
The charges stem from an incident that began on Friday, March 8, 2024, when shortly before 9:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to reports of gunfire on the 1400 Block of Ridge Place in Southeast, D.C.
Responding Police Officers Find Victim
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Adam Dove, 45, of Southeast, D.C., unresponsive in the roadway, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Mr. Dove succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A months-long investigation by Detectives of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Unit was able to identify McKinney as the shooter and the person responsible for Mr. Dove’s death.
Today, December 6, 2024, Fugitive Task Force Officers located McKinney and took him into custody without incident. McKinney was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the D.C. Superior Court.
