FARMINGDALE, NJ.- Yesterday, a 47-year-old Farmingdale, New Jersey, man, who is a Board of Education Member and is employed as a school crossing guard, was taken into custody and charged for allegedly possessing child pornography.
According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, William L. Shaffer, 47, of Farmingdale, was formally charged on Friday with one count of third-degree Possession of Child Pornography.
The charge stems from an investigation that began in September 2024, when the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Bureau’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTip from a Cloud-Based software company regarding an individual viewing and downloading digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
Investigation Uncovers Shaffer Is Viewing Child Pornography
Following the identification and association of an IP address with a location, Detectives determined that Shaffer was viewing and was in possession of child sexual abuse material. Accordingly, Detectives obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Shaffer’s home in the Borough of Farmingdale. During the search, Shaffer was taken into custody without incident.
Anyone with further information regarding this matter is asked to contact Detective Anthony Lacher of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at (800) 533-7443.
