Detectives Searching For The Gunman In Thursday’s Southeast Fatal Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- A 25-year-old man became the latest victim to fall prey to the never-ending violence plaguing the streets of the Nation’s Capitol after he was fatally gunned down in Southeast, D.C. late Thursday afternoon.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at around 5:15 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to reports of a man being shot on the 2000 Block of Wade Road in Southeast, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Mark Odom, 25, with no reported address, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Mr. Odom was immediately transported by D.C. Fire and Emergency Services to a nearby hospital, where, despite life-saving measures, Mr. Odom tragically succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported at this time. Detectives are continuing the search for the gunman and a motive for the shooting.
