Woman Struck & Killed By A Vehicle Monday Night In Hazlet, New Jersey

HAZLET, NJ.- Detectives are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian who was fatally struck on Monday night on State Highway 36 in Hazlet, New Jersey.

     According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, on Monday, December 9, 2024, shortly before 8:00 p.m., members of the Hazlet Township Police Department responded to multiple reports of a woman being struck by a motor vehicle on State Highway 36 near the intersection of Union Avenue in the Township.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that a male driver was traveling southbound in the right lane of State Highway 36. As he approached the intersection near Union Avenue, the woman was struck and sustained serious injuries. The woman was immediately transported to a local hospital, where she was tragically pronounced deceased around 30 minutes later.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No charges or summonses have been reported or filed.
