Albany Man Sentenced To Prison For Drug Trafficking

ALBANY, NY.- On Monday, December 9, 2024, Brian Scott, 44, of Albany, New York, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty pleas. 

     Scott previously appeared in Federal Court in Albany, New York and pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute 5 Kilograms or More of Cocaine; and Conspiracy to Distribute 100 Kilograms of Marijuana; and Distribution of Cocaine.

     According to U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman, and as part of the negotiated plea agreement, Scott admitted that beginning in June 2020 and lasting through October 2023, he was a member of a drug trafficking organization that trafficked large quantities of cocaine and marijuana in New York’s Capital Region and elsewhere in the Northern District of New York. 

     Scott further admitted that he and a co-conspirator routinely send drug couriers between the Capital Region and the North Country to transport cocaine to the North Country and Marijuana back to the Capital Region of New York.

     During his plea allocution, Scott also admitted to trafficking at least 7 kilograms of cocaine, which he obtained from another co-conspirator, and selling over 400 grams of cocaine to another individual.

     As part of the negotiated plea, Scott was ordered to forfeit $4,865 in seized money and pay a $17,180 judgment.
