Monday, U.S. Marshals Apprehend Man Wanted For 2023, Southeast Homicide

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Monday, a 21-year-old Washington, D.C. man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in a superseding indictment in connection with the February 25, 2023, Southeast, D.C. triple shooting that claimed the life of a 37-year-old Hyattsville, Maryland man, and left another two injured.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, December 9, 2024, Metropolitan Police Detectives arrested and formally charged Dionzai Parker, 21, of Southeast, D.C., with first-degree Murder While Armed. Parker was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the District of Columbia Superior Court.

     The charge results from an investigation that began on Saturday, February 25, 2023, when, at around 3:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to multiple reports of gunfire on the 2200 Block of Savannah Street in Southeast, D.C.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered three adult victims, all suffering gunshot wounds. All three were immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital for treatment.

     On Friday, March 3, 2023, despite life-saving efforts by doctors, Brice Djembissi, 37, of Hyattsville, Maryland, lost his fight to live and tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

     During a months-long investigation, Metropolitan Police Homicide Unit Detectives were able to identify Parker as the shooter and the person responsible for Mr. Djembissi’s death, and a warrant was issued for Parker’s arrest, following being located Parker was taken into custody on Monday by the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.
