Fayette County Man Pleads Guilty To Distributing Fentanyl

BECKLEY, W.VA.- On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Robert Lee Moran, 46, of Mount Hope, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn to one count of Distribution of Fentanyl.
According to charging documents filed with the court, on January 29, 2024, Moran sold and distributed approximately one gram of fentanyl to a confidential informant during a controlled buy under the observation of law enforcement officers in Beckley, West Virginia.
During Monday’s plea allocution, Moran admitted that he possessed and distributed approximately one gram of fentanyl.
Following entering the guilty plea, Judge Aboulhosn accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for April 11, 2025, at which time Moran faces up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine. The actual term of imprisonment will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge based on the seriousness of the offense and Moran’s prior criminal history, if any.
