Charleston Man Sentenced To Over A Decade In Prison Drug Distribution

CHARLESTON, W. VA.- On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, Chidi Anthony Okafor, 26, of Charleston, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge John T. Copenhaver to 121 months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea.

     Okafor pleaded guilty to one count of Distribution of 50 Grams or More of Methamphetamine.

     According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson and charging documents filed with the court, on October 31, 2022, Okafor admitted that he sold and distributed 338.3 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Charleston, West Virginia, during a controlled by under the observation of law enforcement officers.

     U.S. Attorney Thompson commended the investigative work of the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations for the successful prosecution of Okafor.
