Woman Killed Sunday Night While Crossing Route 46 In Saddle Brook

SADDLE BROOK, NJ.- Bergen County authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a fatal pedestrian motor vehicle crash that occurred Sunday night on Route 46 in Saddle Brook, New Jersey, that claimed the life of a 65-year-old Bloomfield, New Jersey woman.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Sunday, December 15, 2024, shortly after 9:00 p.m., members of the Saddle Brook Police Department responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Route 46 East in Saddle Brook.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Vilma Huamani-Centeno, 65, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, having succumbed from injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle. Ms. Huamani-Centeno was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Initial Investigation Determines Ms. Huamani-Centeno Was Killed Crossing Highway
During the initial investigation, Police Officers determined that Ms. Huamani-Centeno was attempting to cross Route 46 when she was struck and killed by a motor vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that struck Ms. Huamani-Centeno remained at the scene.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene, and a joint investigation was launched. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests or summonses issued have been reported.
