Tonawanda Woman Sentenced For Child Pornography Conviction

BUFFALO, NY.- On Monday, December 16, 2024, Maria D’Amato, 30, of Tonawanda, New York, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Richard J. Arcara to 108 months in federal prison for her conviction on a federal charge of Receiving Child Pornography.
According to U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross and documents filed with the court, in June 2022, D’Amato knowingly received digital images and video files of child pornography from a young teen girl on her cellular phone. D’Amato had met the 14-year-old girl through another 14-year-old.
D’Amato Communicated With The Teen Girl On Snapchat
She communicated with the teen girl through texts and online applications, such as Snapchat. D’Amato and the girl engaged in sexual acts, which D’Amato recorded using her cellular phone or the girl’s cellular phone. Videos recorded on the girl’s cellular phone would be sent to D’Amato when she requested them.
U.S. Attorney Ross credited the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Tonawanda Police Department for successfully prosecuting D’Amato.
