Ypsilanti Man Sentenced To Federal Prison For West Virginia Drug Crime

BECKLEY, W.VA.- On Thursday, December 19, 2024, Mannie Lamar Terry, also known as “Primo” and “J,” 37, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Frank W. Volk to 25 months in federal prison, immediately followed by three years of supervised release for his guilty plea of Distribution of Fentanyl.
According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson and documents filed with the District Court, on February 27, 2023, Terry sold around 4.5 grams of fentanyl for $300 to a confidential informant during a controlled buy under the observation of law enforcement investigators in Beckley, West Virginia.
Terry Admits To Selling Fentanyl
During his plea allocution, Terry admitted to the February 27, 2023, sale and further admitted to selling an additional 4.5 grams of fentanyl to the confidential informant in Beckley on March 13, 2023.
In handing down the sentence on Thursday, Judge Volk noted Terry’s prior criminal history, which includes aggravated assault, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and multiple drug possession offenses.
U.S. Attorney Thompson commended the investigative work of the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit for the successful prosecution of Terry.
