Police Have Charged 4 In Connection With December 14th Death Investigation

MANCHESTER, NJ.- On Friday, following an investigation into the death of a man whose body was found on December 14, 2024, in the Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management area in Manchester Township, New Jersey, four Greenwood, Indiana, men were taken into custody and charged with the fatal shooting of 35-year-old man from India.

     According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Saturday, December 14, 2024, Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit were contacted regarding the body of a deceased male who had been located in the Manchester Township section of the Greenwood Wildlife Management area. 

     Upon arrival, Local and State law enforcement agencies found the body of a man who was in advanced stages of decomposition. A joint investigation ensued.

     On Sunday, December 15, 2024, the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy on the remains of the man. The Medical Examiner’s determination was the man’s Death was Caused by Multiple Gunshot Wounds to the Chest, and the Manner of Death was ruled Homicide. With the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the man was identified as Kuldeep Kumar, 35, of India.

     The initial investigation by Ocean County Major Crime Unit and the New Jersey State Police revealed that Mr. Kumar had been reported missing by family members in Ozone Park, New York, on October 26, 2024.

Detectives Identify And Apprehend Suspects In Indiana

     Following an extensive investigation by members of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, Detectives determined that Sourav Kumar, Guarav Singh, Nirmal Singh, and Gurdeep Singh all conspired, acted together and carried out the shooting death of Mr. Kumar, and disposing of his body in Manchester Township, New Jersey.

     Accordingly, on Friday, December 20, 2024, Sourav Kumar, Guavar Singh, Nirmal Singh, and Gurdeep Singh were apprehended and taken into custody in Greenwood, Indiana, by members of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the City of Greenwood, Indiana Police Department. All four were remanded to the Johnson County Jail pending extradition to New Jersey.

     “The investigative efforts leading to the arrests of these defendants were nothing short of outstanding teamwork exhibited by all the participating agencies truly exemplifies the best in law enforcement,” Prosecutor Billhimer stated. “Collaborating with our law enforcement partners, particularly the FBI and NJSP, led to the identification of our victim and the swift apprehension of these defendants in Indiana. I want to express my deepest gratitude for their assistance in this investigation,” Prosecutor Billhimer concluded.

     “The charges brought against the individuals in connection with this tragic murder in Manchester Township reflect the tireless commitment of our detectives and the outstanding collaborative efforts of law enforcement at every level,” said Colonel Patrick J.Callahan, Superintendant of the New Jersey State Police. “Justice for victims and their families is always our highest priority, and this case is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and determination of those who worked relentlessly to bring those responsible to justice. Together, we remain steadfast in our mission to ensure those who commit such heinous acts are held accountable.”
