Police Searching For Suspect Who Fatally Gunned Down Man Sunday Night

WASHINGTON, DC.- Metropolitan Police Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a Shooting that claimed the life of a 19-year-old District Heights, Maryland, man after gunfire erupted Sunday night on Q Street in Southeast, D.C.

     According to Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to multiple 911 Emergency Calls reporting gunfire on the 2200 Block of Q Street in Southeast, D.C.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Carmelo Green, 19, of District Heights, Maryland, unresponsive from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Mr. Green tragically succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

     The investigation remains active. Detectives have not made any arrests as they continue to search for the suspect.
