BOSTON, MA.- On Monday, a 37-year-old Lunenburg, Massachusetts, man who is a Level One registered sex offender already in custody on Massachusetts State child pornography offenses was arrested and charged federally for Possession of Child Pornography.
Myers, who was initially arrested on December 17, 2024, and is in state custody on related offenses, made his first appearance on Monday, December 23, 2024, in U.S. Federal Court in Boston, Massachusetts, and was ordered detained pending trial by U.S. District Court Judge David H. Hennessy.
According to U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy and charging information filed in the federal complaint, law enforcement investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Myers’ residence. During the search, investigators uncovered multiple digital images and video files on his cell phone, depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
In 2015, Myers was convicted of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to serve two years of probation by Massachusetts State authorities. As part of that sentence, Myres was required to register as a Level One sex offender.
If convicted on the charge of possession of child pornography, Myers faces a mandatory term of ten years and up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. The actual term of imprisonment will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge based on the seriousness of the offense and Myers’ prior criminal history.
The investigation and case were brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
