Police Charge Maryland Man In Sunday Afternoon Southwest Assault

WASHINGTON, DC.- Metropolitan Police charge a 25-year-old Silver Spring, Maryland, in connection with assaulting a man over a parking spot on Sunday afternoon in Southwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s First District responded to a report of an assault on the 900 Block of Maine Avenue in Southwest, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located the victim, who reported to Police Officers that after parking his vehicle at the location, a man who wanted the same parking spot rolled down his vehicle’s window and pointed a firearm at him.
During the subsequent investigation, Police Officers were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle parked nearby. After reviewing video surveillance footage of the area, Police Officers found the suspect inside a nearby restaurant. Police Officers placed the man under arrest and located a handgun on him.
Accordingly, as a result of the on-scene investigation, Nathan Cinada, 25, of Silver Spring, Maryland, was formally charged with Carrying a Handgun Without a License; Possession of an Unregistered Firearm; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; Possession of Unregistered Ammunition; Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine; and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
Cinada was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the D.C. Superior Court.
