KANSAS CITY, MO.- On Thursday, December 19, 2024, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri filed a two-count criminal information against Seth Brummond, 37, of Greenwood, Missouri, of federal child pornography offenses.
The federal complaint charges Brummond, who is employed as a teacher at Lee’s Summit West High School, with one count of Distribution of Child Pornography and one count of Possession of Child Pornography. Brummond was taken into custody early Thursday morning and made his initial appearance on Friday, December 20, 2024, in Federal Court in Kansas City, Missouri.
According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office
According to the U.S.Attorney’s Office and charging information filed with the court, it is alleged that beginning in September 2024 and lasting through December 18, 2024, Brummond utilized the internet to view, download, and distribute digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children.
The Indictment further alleges that during that time, Brummond possessed digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
The charges stem from an investigation that began when members of the Lee’s Summit Police Department received a CyberTip regarding an individual, later identified as Brummond, who had uploaded 12 video files of child pornography to the online messenger application Kik.
Following the investigation and the filing of the criminal information, on Thursday, December 19, 2024, Lee’s Summit Police Officers and Detectives placed Brummond’s residence under stationary surveillance before executing a court-authorized search warrant. Police Officers followed Brummond once he left his home at around 6:00 a.m. Shortly after leaving his residence, Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on Brummond’s vehicle and arrested him. Police Officers seized his iPhone as well as a computer tower that was in the trunk of his vehicle.
